How to Choose a Laptop in 2026: The Complete Guide

26/06/2026
de către Alex::

A good laptop is chosen based on what you do with it, not by the highest number on the label. Below is a brief and clear overview of what really matters in 2026.

The Processor — the "brain" of the laptop

Intel offers the Core (i3, i5, i7, i9) series, AMD has Ryzen (3, 5, 7, 9). The generation also matters (a new i5 beats an old i7). Roughly: i3 / Ryzen 3-5 for office and browsing, i5 / Ryzen 5 for mixed use, i7 / Ryzen 7 or higher for editing, programming, and heavy multitasking.

RAM

8 GB is the minimum today, 16 GB is recommended for long-term comfort, and 32 GB for professional work (video editing, virtual machines). If possible, choose a model with upgradable RAM.

Storage — SSD is a must

A SSD makes the laptop several times faster than a classic HDD. 256 GB is the minimum, 512 GB is comfortable. NVMe SSDs are even faster than SATA ones.

The Screen

Common sizes: 14” (portable), 15.6” (balanced), 17” (desktop replacement). Request at least Full HD (1920×1080) resolution and ideally an IPS panel for good colors and viewing angles. Matte = fewer reflections.

Graphics Card

For office, browsing, and movies, an integrated card is sufficient. For gaming, photo/video editing, or 3D work, you need a dedicated card (NVIDIA GeForce or AMD Radeon).

Battery Life and Portability

If you move around often, look at battery capacity (Wh) and weight (under ~1.6 kg = light). For a laptop that stays on a desk, battery life matters less.

In short, by profile

  • Office / study: i3-i5 / Ryzen 3-5, 8-16 GB, SSD 256-512 GB, Full HD.
  • Business / multitasking: i5-i7 / Ryzen 5-7, 16 GB, SSD 512 GB.
  • Gaming / editing: i7 / Ryzen 7, 16-32 GB, NVMe SSD, dedicated graphics card.

Refurbished Laptops and PCs: Is It Worth It? Complete Guide

26/06/2026
de către Alex::

"Refurbished" does not mean "broken." When chosen well, a refurbished product offers you nearly the quality of a new one at a significantly lower price. Here’s what you need to know.

What refurbished really means

A refurbished product is tested, cleaned, repaired if needed, and restored to good working condition. It is different from second-hand (sold "as is" without checks) and obviously from new — but it comes with a warranty.

Advantages

  • Price: usually 30-50% lower than a new equivalent.
  • Excellent value for money: you get a high-end business model at the price of a new low-end one.
  • Eco-friendly: extends equipment life, less e-waste.
  • Ideal for companies: equip more workstations with the same budget.

Myths and risks

The myth "it's used, so it breaks" is false if the source is reliable. Real risk only appears when buying from sellers without warranty or without condition description. That’s why it matters where you buy from.

What to check before buying

  • Warranty (how long and what it covers).
  • Aesthetic grade (A / B / C — how visible the wear marks are).
  • Battery condition for laptops.
  • Exact specifications and if it has a licensed operating system.

Who it’s suitable for

For companies wanting to equip offices efficiently, for students, and anyone looking for good performance on a limited budget.

Why from IT Vivant Shop

Our refurbished products are tested, come with warranty and invoice, and have their condition accurately described. See the offer in the Refurbished category.

26/06/2026
de către Alex::

Practic, pornirea Windows si deschiderea programelor devin aproape instant.
